Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Hubert Egger - Brixsana Privatklinik

Prof. (FH) Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Hubert Egger looks back on many years of experience at the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria, degree program in medical technology. Previously, he worked for a long time as the head of research projects at the world-leading prosthesis manufacturer.

As part of his professorship for prosthetics, which is currently the only one of its kind in Austria, he is intensively involved in teaching and in prosthetic research.

He focuses on utilizing existing portions of motor and sensory nerves in the amputation stump to interact with artificial high-tech limbs so that their functionality comes as close as possible to natural limbs. The success of his work with bionic prostheses gained with public attention when under his leadership in 2007 the mind-controlled prosthetic arm was presented, then in 2009 the feeling hand prosthesis and finally in 2015 the first sensory prosthetic leg.
